SDS

Sarah is finally done with her SDS (self directed study) project for Quest. This year she researched weather instruments. Her presentation went well. She had made an anemometer (measures wind speed) and had a fun thermometer that we borrowed from Ash and Brent. There is a boy on the thermometer's display and he dresses in what would be appropriate for the temp. So when it is cold, he has on a hat, mittens, boots, etc. and when it is warm he is down to a swimsuit and sun glasses. The kids liked watching her heat up the thermometer and seeing his clothing change.

I am still learning where the balance is between letting her do it herself and helping. By the time we get it all figured out, she'll probably be out of Quest!

Great job, Sarah! I did a weather instrument project when I was your age...but wasn't nearly as creative with the presentation.
