Goodwill Treasure

On Saturday, the boys and I went to Goodwill. I've been meaning to go there for a while and just browse - mostly for pillowcases. My friend Annalia showed me how to make pillowcase dresses and the girls loved the idea. I did find several cute ones and even made the girls each one this Sunday morning. However, I forgot to take pictures of them. Duh! Sometime in the next week I'm planning to make the other dresses and then I'll post our pillowcase fashion show.

Anyway, back to Goodwill... While we were looking at the toy section Kyle said to me, "Mom! I found an x-wing fighter!" (from Star Wars) Thinking he'd found some sort of suitable jet that he could pretend was an x-wing, I said, "Oh good!" He replied, "Can I have it?" So then I had to turn around and look at what he was hoping to get. I was completely surprised to see that he had, in fact, found an x-wing fighter! It was missing the cockpit cover but looked to be otherwise intact. And only $5! Given his latest Star Wars obsession I quickly agreed that he could have it.

I've actually been lamenting the lack of Star Wars ships in the toy stores. They have some that are also transformers, but he got one of those for his b'day and we have yet to figure out how to get it back into a ship. Some others are die-cast models, but they are almost all from "Clone Wars", which we haven't seen, and kinda pricey. Here is a picture of Kyle's treasure: Aaron likes it too! It's big, clunky, plastic and makes noise! What's not to like?
I also found 2 Buzz Lightyear/Zurg pillowcases. I bought those for the boys too. Kyle insisted on putting his on his pillow that night.
The Evil Emperor Zurg side:
On our way home from Goodwill, Kyle was playing with his x-wing in the van. He discovered that it had buttons to make noise, but said it must be broken or the batteries were dead. Then he discovered the on/off switch. His new x-wing has several lines from the original Star Wars movie as well as sound effects! I was almost as excited as he was! What a find!! Both of the boys walk around the house with the x-wing and sing the Star Wars theme, "da-da-da, dum da-da, dum da-da." So cute! I've been trying to catch Aaron in the act, but haven't succeeded yet. Here is a video of the x-wing in all its glory!

Nice score. We've got some great deals at Value Village, but I haven't been in the Goodwill in Port Orchard. Guess I need to check it out.

That's so fun. I love finding treasures, especially when you happen upon them when you least expect it. Kyle is too cute in those pictures.

I also have to say that I was just noticing in the background of Aaron's picture are some of the laundry baskets I was complaining about in my previous post.

Courtney, you are adorable! I hadn't checked the blog for awhile, and now I feel like we're caught up AND I miss you. Funny! Great score at Goodwill - I've been meaning to head over there. My friend Stephanie has had some tremendous toy finds at theirs in Auburn - like I need to bring more toys here!
