25 Random Things About Me

1. I am 6 feet tall and I do occasionally wear high heels. (If you've ever stood next to me, you probably already know this!)
2. I have always liked boys - I never went through the boys-have-cooties stage. I can remember doing what I thought was flirting in preschool. It was probably more along the lines of showing off. In 2nd grade I got in trouble for playing kissing tag at school. That day I got "caught" (I would trip on purpose) 6 times and the last catch was in the classroom. Someone tattled on us.
3. It was a LONG time after that when I actually got my "first" kiss. I was nearly 17. I used to bemoan this fact. Looking back, maybe it kept me out of a lot of trouble. :)
4. I've only ever had 1 boyfriend. He's now my husband. And he's the best ever!
5. My feet/first two toes used to do this painful thing that I called locking up. Somehow the joints would get stuck in an extended position. It hurts a lot. I've since learned that if I crack my big toe joint several times a day, by bending it quickly, that I can keep this from happening. (Brad hates it when I do this.)
6. I have an addiction to sleep. I don't ever feel like I've gotten enough. I love to nap. This is not always condusive to keeping life on schedule, being a mom, or getting things done.
7. I wish I felt stylish in jeans, sweatshirts, and other comfy clothes because that is what I prefer to wear.
8. When I was in my late teens I swore a lot (although I stayed away from the F word). I broke the habit in my early 20s and now I cringe when I even read a swear word.
9. I get embarrassed when I cry, but the older I get, the more often I cry. I'm either going to have to figure out how to not cry so much or get over being embarrassed!
10. I am a home-body. I love my house, my yard, and my little town. I get excited about getting away from it all, but after a day or so I usually can't wait to come home.
11. I wish we lived closer to our extended families, but I don't want to move back to Utah.
12. When I was around age 6 I stuck a small, round, blue lego up each nostril; showed my mom how cool my blue nostrils were; had her tell me to remove the legos; then proceeded to try to pick them out but succeeded in only shoving them further up my nose. I had to be taken to the emergency room where a doctor removed them with some really long tweezers. I remember getting a lime sucker for being so brave. I'm pretty sure this was on Thanksgiving and that we were hosting it at our house. I remember my mom being VERY unhappy with me.
13. I've had two small bone fractures. #1: stress fracture in my left elbow. I tripped in a clothing store and landed a little funny. #2: broke my left thumb. I was trying to impress my future husband by going on a bike ride. It had been a long time since I'd ridden. I was transitioning from the road to the sidewalk, didn't turn to make it over the bump as I should have, ran up against the bump and fell over. I got a few big scrapes too. This was at the beginning of the ride. I dusted myself off, pretended not to be completely mortified at my fall, and finished the bike ride (after future husband loaned me his bike gloves because my hands were so scraped). Yes, I'm a bit of a clutz!
14. I used to be really, really skinny. As in, I was 6 ft tall and weighed 125 lbs. Now 15 years and 4 kids later, I'm just normal. My goal this year is to get in shape. Not super skinny, just in shape.
15. I can pick things up with my toes. Lots of things. I used to pick up my 5 lb weights. This talent came in very handy when I was pregnant. It still comes in handy because I'm lazy.
16. Oh yeah, I'm lazy. I like things to be neat and clean, but I don't want to be the one who has to do it.
17. I do like to organize. I'm not a pack rat or a sentamentalist. I would love to be one of those Clean Sweep people. My daughter Chloe is a pack rat. Everything to her is a treasure. We've butted heads on this more than once.
18. One time when we were visiting my grandparents' home in rural Idaho, my dad let me take his car out to practice driving. My sister came with me. I pulled out of their drive, didn't make the turn very well, and nearly drove the car into the ditch across the street. We screamed, laughed, and hoped that no one from the house saw us. I don't think I've told my dad about this to this day.
19. Another time I drove my mom's car to the movies and as I was pulling into the parking space I didn't angle the car right (it was a tight spot) and put her rear right passenger door into the corner of the bumper of the car in the next space. I was horrified and tried to back out. I couldn't! I was stuck on their bumper. I didn't know what to do because who knew how long these people would be in the theater or which movie they were in. I think I only ended up waiting about 45 long, panicky minutes. We got the cars unhooked and the other car was fine. They were pretty cool about it. My mom was not happy.
20. Did I mention that I didn't get my driver's license until I was 17 and that I had to take the test 3 times? Stinkin' parallel parking!
21. The biggest reason I went to Utah State (as opposed to the U of U or BYU) is because their application for admission was 1 page long- no essays, no interviews! But that is where I met my hubby, so laziness paid off on that one!
22. I scored a 30 on my ACT exam. I could have gone to any of the above colleges.
23. For the first year that I knew Brad (my hubby), my best friend thought she was in love with him. I would stay up late with her and we'd talk about how perfect they were for each other. Flash forward 2 years and she was over him, in love with her future hubby, and I was starting to think there might be more between us than friendship. For the last year of his mission I got a letter from him every week. :) Oh yeah, and all 4 of us from this little story are best friends today!
24. I have always wanted to be tan. I've never been tan. I used to make "goals" in junior high for how often I would lay out so that I would be tan by the end of the summer. Luckily now I live in the Pacific Northwest where I don't feel as much pressure to be tan.
25. I think I'm addicted to blogging and Facebook. I love knowing what is going on with all of my friends and it feels so much easier to keep in touch.

I'm so glad you posted this on here. I learned so much about you! 30 on the ACT?? Hello! That's impressive, but I'm not surprised. It's obvious that you are a very bright person.

And I'm really happy I'm not the only addicted to blogging. :)

Thanks for sharing! You are a very interesting person and rather funny! Is it #15 about your toe dexterity coming in handy because you're lazy? I love your enthusiasm for life. Your pretty laid back but the enthusiasm is definitely there. I don't know if that makes any sense but you're a great friend who brightens my day, that's all I meant.
