Sarah

The girl's name Sarah \s(a)-rah\ is pronounced SARE-ah. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "princess". In the Old Testament, Sarah was the wife of Abraham, and the mother of Isaac. Her name was first Sarai ("my princess"), which God changed to Sarah ("princess") as her descendants were to be the future nation of Israel. She is described as being exceptionally beautiful, even into her older years.

What to say about my Sarah... she's definitely my princess. She is smart, sweet, kind, compassionate, silly, the list goes on and on. I remember when I was pregnant with her and I was looking at one of my mom's bride dolls. The doll had brown hair and green eyes and I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a daughter with coloring like that? Well, her eyes are hazel, but that's pretty darn close!

More importantly, she's the kind of person that I had hoped she would turn out to be. She truly is one of the most compassionate children I know. I think she is far more in tune with others than I ever will be. I think that is one of her gifts. She's been like that from very early on. So many people have complemented her for her kind thoughts and actions. I've had many complement me for the way that she is, but I truly feel that her sweet spirit (cliche, I know, but it's true) is something that she came into this world with.

She's definitely a "normal" kid though with her ups and downs. She DOES fight with her siblings and she and I definitely clash on quite a few things - we both think we should be in charge. Fortunately, we are similar enough that it helps me to understand her. Below is something she made for me back when she was in kindergarten. She was really frustrated with me and wanted to let me know...
I had to try so hard not to laugh at how cute it was that she could express herself so accuately. I have often felt "in rage" myself so it was interesting to see her put that onto paper.

Twice this past week Sarah has gone to be a "mother's helper". Kind of like a babysitter in training. She helps play with babies and younger kids, tidy up the home, and just be there to help the mom. Some of you may be thinking, "Shouldn't she be at home being YOUR mother's helper?!" Well, the thing is, she usually is. And she probably does far more than she should. I don't know how I would get along without her - especially on Sunday mornings. But there is something different about going out and spending time serving others. She went out this week because she wanted to. It was her idea and she was so happy with the time she got to spend with the two families that she was with. Below is a picture of her with Aaron, only because I don't have a picture of her with the families she was with this week. But you can see how much she loves babies!

Sarah loves to sing and dance. She loves music. She is probably the biggest fan of the different kinds of music that Brad brings home. She is always singing along to stuff in the van. She loves to make up dances and is really hoping to be back in dance classes this fall. She's only taken one year of piano lessons, but progressed quickly and will hopefully only get better and better once I get her back with a teacher. She definitely has more of Brad's musical talent than mine! This picture is from a Sunday when the three of them were singing and dancing for me. The girls had fashioned capes for themselves and then Sarah helped Kyle with his. I like the way she and Kyle are looking at each other in this photo. You can see that he really loves his big sister!

I love her too. She is awesome in every way. I hope she knows how much I love her. I try to tell her every day - even on the days when we fight - especially on those days. She is truly an angel sent from heaven. :) I love you Sarah!

I didn't know Sarah meant "princess"! That's so cool, cuz the girl seriously reminds me of the girl in "The Little Princess". I loved reading this. All those pictures are so precious and I'm so thankful to Sarah for coming over this past week. What a doll.

That was so sweet! I have adored Sarah from the get go. I still smile inside every time I think of she and Brandon being "awake and asleep" with a piece of metallic tissue. We miss watching that cute girl grow up and my how she has grown up since you left Utah.

We love you Sarah!
