Dance Mania!

This past Saturday the girls had their spring dance concert. They were both really excited and they did a fabulous job. Chloe danced in the same costume as this winter because she stayed in the same class. Sarah moved up to the level 2 classes for the spring session, so she got to get 2 new costumes ($$!). Her red costume is for her jazz class. They were both happy to get to wear lots of makeup again. Chloe even got to go to a birthday party after the dance concert and was thrilled to keep her makeup on for it. Fortunately this time around, doing their hair was much less stressful. I was surprised that it went so well, especially with Sarah, since her hair is short and layered now, but our attitudes were like night and day compared to when we had the December concerts. Maybe I learned my lesson? Maybe she learned to have some patience with me? Either way, I was grateful for no fighting during the "beautifying".

Sarah in her ballet costume: There is a story to go along with this one... a few weeks ago we had to get them all gussied up for pictures. When we got to the dance studio I had one mom say to me, "Here are the buttons for her costume. You need to pin them on her leotard." Um, okay. Then I asked about where we would get her hat (thinking that the dance studio had them stored with their Nutcracker supplies). Her response, "You need a hat?!" Well, yes, as a matter of fact... Button mom seemed really concerned and directed me to another mom, who, it turns out, had made the hats for the Nutcracker. Hat mom looked just as surprised and also concerned. She didn't have any extra hats. No one had told her that anyone needed a hat. Luckily, one of the girls that she had a hat for didn't show up for pictures. Sarah wore her hat that day. Then Sarah and I tracked down a Quest classmate who had this costume but wasn't taking dance anymore. We were able to borrow her hat. Whew! I wish the studio had been a little more coordinated about all this. I wish hat or button mom (who I know had seen Sarah in the class) would have thought, "Gee, I wonder if this new girl will need a hat?" I'm just glad that it all worked out.

This is Chloe's hip hop dance. The big pause is because one of their classmates wasn't there for the dress rehearsal. That spot was for her solo and where she was supposed to help out another girl with her solo. She was there for the concert and it was great. It's a bummer that she wasn't there for my video taking. I just can't bring myself to pay $35 for a DVD of the concert. Ouch!
Chloe's hip hop dance: She's the one in yellow. She's got attitude!

Sarah's Jazz dance: She starts out on the left side and is the one dancing around with the boy later on. When they line up, she's the second girl. Just watch for the skinny legs and the big smile. :)

Sarah's ballet dance: She's the tallest one and gets to be in the center of the circle.

They did great! I love it! I couldn't pick Sarah out in her jazz one, but easily picked the girls out in the other two. :)
