"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."~ Melody Beattie ~
This is how I feel about gratitude. Someone shared this in their talk at church today. What a wonderful expression of what gratitude is!
I like Thanksgiving, but since we don't live near our families, the day is mostly about food to me. Which, really, we could have any time of the year. I think it is important to be grateful daily, to frequently count your blessings, and to always remember the Lord's hand in all things. Maybe someday Thanksgiving will be about more than just turkey, parades on TV, and wearing comfy pants. But if not, it's okay, because we're continually trying to be grateful. My sister-in-law has been blogging daily this month about the things she is grateful for. Big things, little things, and all things in between. Maybe that will be the focus my blog for 2009. We'll see. Anyway, what I'm grateful for right now is that I have a wonderful husband who is asleep on the couch because he'd rather wait for me before he heads off to bed. :)
