Home Again!

The kids and I are home! We all arrived Saturday evening. It was so nice to get to sleep in our own beds again! Kyle took about an hour to adjust, but slept through the night just fine. The girls were thrilled to rediscover all the toys they'd left behind. They went through 3 or 4 different dress up outfits just in the first hour we were home! Chloe immediately ran downstairs into the "clubhouse" to find her Bun-Bun (her little old bunny). Kyle was having a great time with a new place to explore.

Brad was home just long enough on Sunday to get the baby gates installed and the kitchen cabinets baby proofed. That has been a big relief for Kyle to be able to walk around without getting into too much trouble. We found out last night though, just how much we need those gates. I was tucking the girls into bed when we heard a truly sickening THUD and instant crying. I just knew Kyle had fallen down the stairs! I came running out and there he was lying on his back down on the landing. Not something a mother wants to see! Luckily, he survived the fall okay and I haven't noticed any big bumps or bruises. Apparantly Sarah had left the gate open because she had been taking toys downstairs before bed while I had Kyle in his high chair. The gate was mostly shut, but not locked and I forgot to check it when I took him out of his chair. Sarah felt really bad, but we're all okay. We sure won't forget to double check the gates from now on!

Brad is now back down in San Diego for the next month. Hopefully he'll be home mid-August. He's pretty sure I'll have a lengthy honey-do list for him. He may be right. We are working hard though. We're mostly unpacked, but there is still a lot of organizing and cleaning to do. Yesterday was spent weeding the beds in the front yard. I got about halfway done, but it looks a lot better. The backyard is full of weeds. That will take forever to clean up! Oh well, the joys of living in Washington! Oh, and of course, during part of the day when all the kids were out with me, Kyle fell and scraped up his shin! Now it matches the other one that he scraped during one of our travel spots on Saturday.

Today was a crazy roller-coaster day. We met up with Stephanie, Sophie, and Lily Knight at McDonalds in Silverdale. The girls were thrilled to be with their buddies again. It was pure girl craziness! Then they all went over to play at the Knight's home while I ran errands with Kyle. Unfortunately for him, one of those errands included getting him up to date on his immunizations. The poor little guy had to get 4 shots! He's a fighter too! The nurse even commented on how strong he was. Thank heavens the tears were short lived and he soon forgave me.

After our errands we went over to the Knight's to do some more visiting and pick up the girls. We were out on their deck and I thought (key word here!) that I was keeping a close eye/hand on Kyle because their deck doesn't have any railings (it's low to the ground/planter beds). Well, of course, I wasn't near enough to him when he fell off! He hit his head on a rock - luckily a stepping rock so it was flat. Just as I'm almost to him, he rolls to get up and rolls under the deck! Well, I screamed!!!! My baby just fell and then disappeared under the deck. I climbed down and saw that he had hit his head on one of the supporting posts as he rolled under. I had to drag him closer to me and then Stephanie was able to help me maneuver him out. He was a mess of dirt and bark and tears! After stripping him down and checking him out he looked relatively okay. No big scrapes or cuts. After a few minutes we started to notice a pretty good lump/bruise on his left temple. Probably where he hit the rock. Later on he was getting bruise on his right cheek bone, probably the post under the deck. How traumatic!!! At least there was no blood and I wasn't having to take him back to the doctor for stitches. He seems okay now. Although I'll be keeping an extra close eye on him for a while!

Then tonight Sarah and Chloe knocked heads on their way to bed. Well, Chloe's head and Sarah's mouth. Sarah's loose tooth was knocked a bit looser and bled a little. I wasn't sure I could handle it coming out and her freaking out over a bleeding mouth tonight so I'm glad it stayed in! Although, it would have been convenient for it to be knocked out rather than the drama of me pulling it when it's barely hanging on. But, the way it's going, who knows when that will be?!

Now it's late and even though I had some good times today, I'm glad that the crazy drama is over. Hopefully I'll find the camera and get some pics of the house on here soon! Or Kyle's battered head. Or Sarah's tooth gap. Hopefully Chloe's not next, although she does have a pretty good scraped up elbow right now.....
